Coconut Peat
High EC
Coconut Peat High EC or Coir Peat High EC refers to a coconut fiber-based growing medium with elevated electrical conductivity (EC) due to higher salt levels. Despite washing and processing during production, it sometimes retains a high EC. High EC in Coir Peat can adversely affect plant growth by causing salt buildup, leading to nutrient imbalances and water stress. To mitigate this, the Coconut Peat is typically leached with water or a low-EC fertilizer solution before use.
Used For
Soil Amendment
In certain soil types with low EC, incorporating cocopeat high EC can help improve the soil structure and increase its ability to retain nutrients. It can be used as an amendment to enhance water retention in sandy soils and improve drainage in clayey soils. Proper blending and monitoring of soil conditions are essential to avoid overloading the soil with salts.
Landscaping
Cocopeat high EC serves as effective mulch, preventing weed growth and maintaining soil moisture in landscaping.
Animal Bedding
Ideal for livestock like cows, horses, and poultry, Cocopeat high EC acts as soft bedding, absorbing moisture, and minimizing odors for comfortable animal rest.
